The best things in life are free
But you can give ‘em to the birds and bees
TV hit Downton Abbey has been thrown into crisis with fears of a mass exodus of its young female stars.
Actresses including Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jessica Brown Findlay and Joanne Froggatt have seen offers of film work flood in since the costume drama made them stars.
Their agents are said to be weighing up all options – and they have not ruled out leaving the show that made their name if the right project comes along.
A source said: “The girls are the toast of Hollywood right now and people are scrambling to work with them.
“America loves an English rose. All the ladies are popular over in the States and interest levels are high.
“They’re being advised to look at all the offers on the table and if the right job comes up then they won’t return.
“They have to think about their careers first and they were not on great contracts with Downton.
“The agents they’re with know they can achieve more money. And they also know that the girls are young and need to take advantage of the position they’re in. There is life outside Downton.”
